More Power for Precise Processing: 16 bits per channel
Zoner Photo Studio is built around a core that supports processing of digital images in 16-bit-per-channel color depth. In practice, this fact means significantly smaller losses of image quality. Many times more detail is preserved during processing. This property will be especially appreciated by users who work in RAW and TIFF, and who require avoiding the loss of quality that that 8 bit-per-pixel image processing causes.
More bits in each of the RGB color channels means a wider color palette and more room for adjustment than 8-bit processing. For example, in very dark photos that will be lightened using the Levels tool, processing with 8 bits per pixel will emphasize noise, while processing with 16 bits per pixel (48 overall) will emphasize detail.
The implementation of 16-bit color depth in Zoner Photo Studio is not restricted to a few operations like in many competing products. Instead, it covers over 90 percent of the image editing and defect correction tools, as well as the filters for saving into various formats.
16-bit-color processing is only available in the Professional version.
